Senior Building Control Officer

Our building department has an opportunity for a Senior Building Control Officer to join the team.  It’s a role where you will need to hit the ground running, and utilise your depth of technical expertise with large projects.

Your role will include:

  • Site inspections
  • Issuing code compliance certificates
  • Consent processing
  • Auditing building warrants of fitness
  • Inspecting pool fences

You must have confidence in your knowledge and application of NZ building industry legislation, building code and associated regulations and be able to demonstrate that your skills and competencies have been assessed and benchmarked against the National BCA competency assessment system.

 

You will be well organised and self-motivated in setting, prioritising and meeting timeframes.

 

You will also be a strong communicator with the ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders so you can take a leading role in enabling development to happen.

Engineering Team Support

The Engineering Team Support role supports the Engineering Manager and wider team with a variety of administrative tasks, including report writing, proof reading, contract management, database management and HR support.

 

To excel in the role, you need to be:

  • a guru with grammar and spelling
  • well organised and structured
  • process orientated with the ability to drive compliance from the team
  • always one step ahead.

 

This role does require some technical expertise, so a background in the engineering, or construction sector, or a local authority would definitely help.

 

This is a full-time position between the life-friendly hours of 8.00am – 5.00pm, Monday – Friday.

Community Facilities Officer

We have the opportunity for a Community Facilities Officer to join the team.

This role is ultimately about effective stakeholder relationship management. 

You are the go-to person for anyone in our community who wishes to discuss any matters about Council owned parks, building and facilities. 

You also have responsibility for:

  • monitoring and reporting on servicing contracts
  • staff management
  • budget management
  • asset management.

This is a senior role requiring a high degree of autonomy and accountability. 

To be successful in this role, you will need to have an empathetic approach to issues management and be able to resolve matters diplomatically.  You will also need to have exceptional organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and assign tasks as required. 

 

If you are a people-person with strong communication skills and an effective approach to relationship management, this may be the role for you.

Site Operator - Water Services

We require an energetic Site Operator to assist the existing team with the operation and maintenance of public water services treatment and reticulation networks. This includes potable water, wastewater and stormwater.  Other responsibilities include providing advice and information on all three water services and collection of As-Built and other asset information.  Response to after-hours calls will also be required on a rostered basis, once training is complete.

As a successful member of the engineering team, you will be:

  • Enthusiastic, willing to keep learning on-the-job and contribute positively to our team culture
  • Experienced in some areas of water treatment, collection and distribution operations
  • Confident in using electronic technologies relevant to the position, such as SCADA and PLC operation, plus Microsoft Excel
  • A proactive problem solver with a high level of initiative
  • Hands-on and prepared to “get stuck in” to operational tasks.

Knowledge of drinking water treatment, stormwater management and pumps would be an advantage, as would an affinity for technology.
