Workers Camp Proposal - Island Reserve off the table

Council staff met with CPB this morning to discuss progress on the workers village proposal and CPB have confirmed they no longer view the Island Reserve as a suitable site for the proposed workers village.  This is mostly due to having insufficient suitable space to locate the other communal buildings needed to service the needs of village residents, such as the gym, dining hall and lounge/rec room.  CPB are now looking closer at other options they have been made aware of since the matter has been made public, some of these options may include land outside of the Otorohanga area.  Please refer any enquiries to Trish Ambury, Land Management Officer, phone 873 4341.
