Nova Energy and Transpower Notified Applications update 30 March 2017

The combined hearing by Otorohanga District Council and Waikato Regional Council to hear applications from Nova Energy Ltd and Transpower for the establishment of a gas fired power station was held in Otorohanga on 29 and 30 march. The formal hearing proceedings have now concluded and the independent commissioners are deliberating on their decision.

The Chair of the independent panel of commissioners will deliver a combined decision on all the consents ( Nova Energy) and recommendation on the notice of requirement (Transpower). The decision and recommendation will be notified to all submitters and affected parties and posted on this website.

The Otorohanga District Council has received a Notice of Requirement for Designation from Transpower New Zealand Ltd for the construction, operation, maintenance and upgrade of a proposed new 220kV transmission line between the proposed Waikato Power Plant and tower T167 on land legally described as Section 75 Block XVI Pirongia Survey District (CFR: SA48D/748), 869 Kawhia Road.

The Otorohanga District Council has assessed the notice of requirement and determined that it is to be processed on a limited notified basis.

Pursuant to Section 96(4) of the Resource Management Act 1991 any person who has been served with formal notice of this notice of requirement has the right to lodge a submission with Council in relation to it.

Submissions must be made in writing to the Otorohanga District Council at P.O Box 11, Otorohanga 3940, and must include the following information:

  1. Your name, postal address and telephone number
  2. Details of the application including the name of the applicant, the address of the subject site and what the application is for.
  3. Whether you support, oppose or are neutral to the application
  4. The reasons for your submission
  5. The decision you wish Council to make
  6. Whether you wish to be heard in support of your submission (i.e. whether you wish to speak at the hearing).

The closing date for receipt of submissions will be Monday 17 October 2016.  Any submissions received after 5pm on this date may not be accepted by Council.

Submissions may only be made by those people who have been directly served with notice of the application. No submissions will be accepted from any other person or organisation.
