Stock Movement Bylaw

Proposed Amendment of the Keeping of Stock Poultry and Bees Bylaw

Otorohanga District Council proposes to amend the Keeping of Stock Poultry and Bees Bylaw 2009 and that it will consult with the community on this proposal.

The purpose of this Bylaw is to place controls on the movement of stock animals on roads within the Otorohanga District. The Bylaw was last reviewed in 2014.

Main provisions of the Bylaw are:

  • Imposition of controls on any movements of stock along or across roads in the Otorohanga District (except in the case of an escape).
  • Establishes Drovers Permits to authorise and control stock movements along roads that are large in the number of animals and/or the distance travelled.
  • Requirement for construction of underpasses for stock movements where movement is frequent and of a high volume.
