Kāwhia Community Board By-election
Voting now closes 12 noon Friday 24 February
Given the disruptions to the postal network caused by the Cyclone Gabrielle weather event, I have invoked the provisions of Section 73 of the Local Electoral Act 2001 to extend the voting period for the Kāwhia Community Board (Kāwhia subdivision) by-election. Voting for that by-election will now close at midday on Friday 24 February 2023.
Completed voting papers should still be posted in your nearest NZ Post mail box up until Tuesday 21 February, and thereafter may be taken to the Ōtorohanga District Council office at 17 Maniapoto Street, Ōtorohanga and placed in the ballot box if the office is open, or in the after-hours box.

Further Notice of By-election for the Kāwhia Community Board
The nomination period to fill the extraordinary vacancy for a Kāwhia subdivision representative on the Kāwhia Community Board has now closed. Nominations have been received from Richard Harpur and Lloyd Hohaia Whiu. View candidate information here.
As the number of nominations received exceeds the number of vacancies, a voting process is required and will be conducted by postal voting. Voting will open on Thursday 26 January and close at 12 noon on Friday 24February 2023.
Enrolment and Special Voting Arrangements
Residential electors within the Kāwhia subdivision of the Kāwhia Community Board area who are not listed on the final electoral roll for this by-election can enrol or amend their enrolment details on the electoral roll on or before 5pm Thursday 16 February 2023:
Ratepayers of property within the Kāwhia subdivision of the Kāwhia Community Board area who live outside that area and who are not listed on the final electoral roll for this by-election can enrol on or before 5pm Thursday 16 February 2023 by completing and returning a ratepayer enrolment form, available from the Ōtorohanga District Council office or website.
Special voting facilities for the by-election will be available at the Ōtorohanga District Council office at 17 Maniapoto Street, Ōtorohanga during normal office hours between Thursday 26 January and 12 noon on Friday 24 February 2023.
