District Licencing Committee

The Ōtorohanga District Licensing Committee (DLC) is an independent, standalone committee appointed under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. It makes the decisions as to whether a licence or certificate is granted.

The DLC determines all applications for, or renewal of, a licence or manager's certificate within the Ōtorohanga District.

The Chairperson is an independent Commissioner, who sits with two other members selected from a pool for each hearing.

The Commissioner can determine applications with no opposition from reporting agencies on their own.

The Commissioner and Committee members were selected through a public nomination process as being people with suitable skills for the role.

Applications for the suspension or cancellation of licences or certificates continue to go to the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority (ARLA) in Wellington.
