When do you need an underpass?
If you regularly move stock across a local road, then you may need to install an underpass. Underpasses are tunnels that are constructed under a road. They allow stock to move freely from land on one side of the road to another, without obstructing traffic.
The Ōtorohanga District Council promotes the installation of stock underpasses on busy rural roads, and we may even contribute towards the cost.
Once the underpass has been installed, you will no longer need to open the gate to move stock across the road, and there won’t be any mess left behind for your neighbours to drive through.
