PROPOSAL to Close Roads - Ōtorohanga and Kāwhia ANZAC Commemorations

In accordance with the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, notice is hereby given that the Ōtorohanga District Council, for the purpose of holding the Anzac Day Commemorations, proposes to close the following roads to ordinary vehicular traffic for the period indicated hereunder: 

 FRIDAY 25 APRIL 2025 

 Ōtorohanga Closure:  

  • State Highway 3 / Maniapoto Street – from the northern entrance of Huiputea Drive to its intersection with Te Kanawa Street.
  • Kakamutu Road - from Maniapoto Street to its intersection with Turongo Street.
  • Gradara Avenue - from Kakamutu Road to its intersection with Summit Drive.
  • Ranfurly Street - east end from its intersection with Maniapoto Street to end.
  • Cowley Lane – entire length.
  • Wahanui Crescent – entire length.
  • Whittington Lane – entire length. 

Period of Closures: 5.45am to 6.45am and 9.45am to 10.45am. 

Detour will be by way of Huiputea Drive. 

 

Kāwhia Closure: 

  • Pouewe Street – from Kāwhia Motors to Kāwhia Hotel. Includes intersection with Jervois Street. 

 Period of Closure: 12.45pm to 1.45pm. 

 

Access for emergency vehicles will be allowed in the event of an emergency. 

Pursuant to the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, any person objecting to the proposal is called upon to lodge notice of their objection and grounds thereof in writing before 4.00pm Wednesday 5th March 2025 at the offices of the Otorohanga District Council, 17 Maniapoto Street, Ōtorohanga.
