How to Have Your Say on Council Consultations

At Ōtorohanga District Council, your input is an essential part of shaping our community. That’s why we make it easy for you to access information about consultations and share your feedback.

Our Consultation and Engagement page is your go-to hub for:

  • Details on current consultations.
  • Submission deadlines.
  • Instructions on how to provide feedback.

Whether it’s about local projects, policies, or services, your voice helps guide our decisions and ensures they reflect the community's needs.

What Happens After You Provide Feedback?

Once a consultation closes, we begin the important work of reviewing all submissions. This feedback is considered alongside expert subject advice and other information to help inform Council decisions.

Here’s what happens next:

  1. Review: Every submission is carefully reviewed
  2. Decision-making: Your feedback is considered in the decision-making process
  3. Presentation: The reviewed information is presented back to the Community Boards or Council, keep an eye out on our meeting agendas
  4. Decisions: Any changes requested by the Community Boards or Council, are reviewed including how your input shaped the final decision
  5. Update: We will inform you about the decisions the Community Boards or Council have made

We believe in transparency and want to keep you informed every step of the way. This process can take anywhere between two to 18 months depending on the impact or urgency of the subject. This could be measured on public safety and asset, financial, or environmental risk.

Why Your Input Matters

Consultations are more than just a formality—they’re a key way for us to connect with you and ensure we’re making decisions that benefit our district. Whether you’re passionate about a specific project, or simply want to stay informed, your voice matters.

Every consultation is published on our app that sends you phone notifications, you can download it here: Download Antenno
