Discounted Dog Registration & Microchipping – Limited Time Offer!

Ōtorohanga District Council is making it easier for dog owners to do the right thing!
For a limited time, we’re offering a discounted dog registration fee of just $25 for dogs that have never been registered before.

Plus, microchipping is included! If your dog is already registered but still needs microchipping, you can get it done for just $5.

Why Register & Microchip Your Dog?

All dogs in New Zealand must be registered from the time they turn three months old or arrive in the country. Microchipping is a key part of responsible dog ownership, helping councils reunite lost pets with their owners. By registering your dog and ensuring it is microchipped, you’re not only meeting your legal obligations but also giving your furry friend the best chance of making it home safely if they ever go missing.

When & Where?

You can take advantage of this offer by visiting our Council office or attending one of our Pop-up Council 'Pup-up' events:

📍 Kāwhia 'Pup-up' Event  – Tuesday, 1 April 2025 | 10 AM – 2 PM at the Kāwhia Hall, Jervois St, Kāwhia.
📍 Ōtorohanga 'Pup-up' Event – Wednesday, 2 April 2025 | 10 AM – 2 PM at the Back of the Ōtorohanga Library, Turongo St, Ōtorohanga
🏢 Ōtorohanga District Council Office – 31 March to 11 April 2025 (during office hours)

Who Is Eligible?

• This offer applies to any unregistered dog (any age).
• If your dog is already registered but still needs microchipping, you can access our $5 microchipping service.

How It Works

1️⃣ Register your dog at the Council office, at one of our pop-up events or online. (Online option you must select 'pay-in-person at council office' to receive the discount)
2️⃣ Our Customer Experience team will process the registration and payment.
3️⃣ Our Animal Control Officer, will contact you to arrange a microchipping appointment or do it on the spot at the two 'Pup-up' events.
4️⃣ Enjoy peace of mind knowing your dog is registered, microchipped, and safe!
